Ed Kramer co-founded US speculative fiction convention Dragon*Con, which began in 1987. In 2000 he was arrested on child molestation charges. By 2013, having not gone to trial, he was still receiving shareholder dividends from Dragon*Con amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, although no longer involved in organising it. He refused to have his shares of the corporation bought out.
In January 2013, writers Nancy A. Collins and Stephen Bissette publicised Kramer's continued financial gain from Dragon*Con, calling upon Dragon Con / ACE, Inc. to dissolve and reincorporate. Dragon Con / ACE, Inc. did so in July 2013, merging into Dragon Con, Inc.
Kramer pleaded guilty to child molestation charges in December 2013, and was sentenced to 34 months under house arrest.
