Cissexism

A more subtle form of transphobia that makes the assertion that being cisgender is the default and being transgender is abnormal or unnatural.

Forms of cissexism include:

• assuming someone's gender based on their genitalia
• assuming someone's sex/genitalia based on their gender expression
• assuming someone's gender based on their secondary gender characteristics and gender expression (such as size of breasts, style of hair or clothing, presence of make-up, etc.)
• assuming there are only two genders or that gender falls into easily defined boxes
• assuming there are only two, clearly defined, sexes
• imposing a gender upon a child (for example asking "is it a boy or a girl?")
• assuming all pregnant people are women (excluding those trans men who are capable of pregnancy)
• the phrase "women's reproductive rights" and saying men should not have a say when it comes to abortion (thereby excluding trans men who are capable of pregnancy).
• the phrase "topkek" which is oppresive to women everywhere and means something along the lines of "feminism is bullshit that nobody takes seriously/i'm going to rape you"
