Overview
According to the Encycolpedia Brittanica [1] a card game is defined as a:
game played for pleasure or gambling (or both) with one or more decks of playing cards. Games using playing cards exploit the fact that cards are individually identifiable from one side only, so that each player knows only the cards he holds and not those held by anyone else.
There are some card games that have been translated over to computer games, such as Magic: The Gathering [2] but that can be found under Computer Games. This page will deal only with the physical version of card games which are played by people in a face-to-face environment
Issues
- Condescension
- Those that play or create games will often think of them as "too hard" for women. Frequently using a version of So simple, your mother could do it.
- Objectification
- Frequently the artwork or concept of a card game will objectify women.
